Rekoup FAQ

Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions about our services. If you don’t find the answer to your specific question, then just reach out and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

LOOKING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR SERVICES?

01. Self-publishing support

What is Rekoup’s Self-Publishing Support?

Our Self-Publishing Support service gives you full-scale publishing support without giving up control. We step in as your in-house publishing team — planning, promoting, and publishing your game under your studio’s name, not ours. And we don’t stop at launch — we stick around to help with post-launch sales, promotions, and long-tail growth, so your game keeps thriving long after release.

How is this different from working with a traditional publisher?

We’re not here to take over — we’re here to plug in. Unlike traditional publishers, we work under your studio’s name, giving you full publishing support without taking control or overshadowing your brand. You keep your IP, make the calls, and stay in the spotlight — we just help you ship, grow, and make more money along the way.

What kind of support do you provide?

We offer full-scale publishing support — including marketing, PR, platform relations, store optimization, sales strategy, influencer outreach, and business development. Think of us as your in-house publishing team, working under your studio’s name so the spotlight stays on you.

While we don’t handle porting, QA, or localization in-house, we help connect you with trusted partners we’ve worked with to make sure you’re fully covered every step of the way.

How much does it cost?

Our Self-Publishing Support service is flexible — we offer either a fixed monthly fee (based on your needs) or a revenue share model.

We’ll never take more than 15%, and there are no hidden fees or surprise costs. Just a clear, upfront setup built to support your game and your studio.

Will I still have full creative control?

Absolutely! You make all creative and strategic decisions. We’ll provide insights, ideas, and strategies, but nothing gets executed without your approval. Think of us as an extension of your team — we work for you, not the other way around.

Do I still own my IP?

Yes — 100%. Your IP remains yours, and all revenue flows directly through your accounts. We don’t touch your revenue; we simply work with you to maximize it.

Is my game too small for this service?

Not at all. Whether you’re a solo developer or a mid-sized indie studio, we tailor our services to fit your needs. We’ve worked with everything from smaller passion projects to highly ambitious indie titles.

I already have 30,000+ wishlists on Steam — what value can you add?

That’s awesome — and it’s a great starting point. Our job is to turn those wishlists into real sales through smart pricing, platform strategy, and launch planning — while continuing to build momentum with even more wishlists through ongoing marketing and outreach.

But we don’t stop at launch (if you don´t want us to!). We’ll stay on as your commercial team post-release too, supporting updates, sales beats, and long-tail revenue strategies — keeping your game visible and selling well long after day one. All while you stay focused on what matters most: making your game the best it can be.

How does the process work?

It all starts with you reaching out and sharing as much as you can about your game — where you’re at, what you’ve done so far, and what kind of support you’re looking for. The more context we have, the better we can figure out how we can actually help.

After that, we’ll set up a short call to get to know each other, talk through your goals, and see if there’s a good match. If things click, we’ll review your project in more detail and come back with a tailored plan for how we’d work together.

We’re careful about how many projects we take on, because we want to give every game the time, energy, and care it deserves. So while we can’t say yes to everything, we’ll always be upfront — and if we can’t help, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.

What if my game isn’t ready for release yet?

Perfect! The earlier we can get involved, the better. We can help you craft a Go-To-Market plan, prepare your store pages, and build marketing momentum leading up to launch. The sooner we’re involved, the more value we can provide.

What if I’ve already done some marketing or set up my store page?

That’s great! We can jump in at any stage to improve and expand your efforts. Whether it’s refining your store page, optimizing your discount strategies, or improving your PR outreach, we’ll focus on what will have the biggest impact.

How soon can you start working with us?

We aim to get started as quickly as possible. After our initial call, we can usually begin working with you within a couple of weeks — depending on your game’s timeline and what kind of support you need.

How will I know if your strategies are working?

We provide regular updates, detailed reporting, and performance analysis so you’ll always know what’s happening with your game’s marketing, sales, and platform outreach. We’re fully transparent and keep you informed every step of the way.

Why should I choose Rekoup over hiring someone in-house?

Hiring someone in-house means finding the right person, training them up, and hoping they have the full range of experience to cover everything from platform relations to pricing strategy, marketing, and much more — and let’s be real, that’s rare (and expensive).

With Rekoup, you get a senior team that’s already been through it all — no onboarding, no overhead, just results. We plug straight into your studio and start driving your commercial efforts from day one, reporting to you every step of the way. It’s like having a fully loaded publishing department… without having to build one.

What’s your track record?

We’ve worked across the industry for 15+ years, helping ship over 150 games — from small indie releases to big AAA titles — with publishers like Activision Blizzard, Tencent, and Funcom. Along the way, we’ve contributed to games like Call of Duty (a bunch of them), Overwatch, Sekiro, Hearthstone, Crash Bandicoot, Metal: Hellsinger, Dune: Spice Wars, Guitar Hero, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater — and many more.

These days, we’re focused on supporting indie studios. With our Self-Publishing Support (and Long Tail Revenue Services), we bring all that experience to help your game — and your studio — succeed on your terms.

What types of games do you work with?

We specialize in working with indie games of all sizes — whether you’re a solo dev with a passion project or a studio developing a larger indie title. If you’re serious about maximizing your game’s success while staying in control, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s the best way to get started?

Just reach out and tell us about your game! The more you can share — like where you’re at in development, what you’ve already done, and what kind of support you’re after — the better we can understand how to help. We’ll take it from there and see if we’re a good fit!

What if I’m overwhelmed by the business side of publishing?

That’s exactly why we’re here. We understand that managing store pages, pricing, platform relations, and marketing can feel overwhelming — especially when you just want to focus on making a great game. We handle all of that for you, so you can spend your time doing what you do best: creating awesome games.

What’s the next step?

Let’s have a chat. No pressure — just an honest conversation about your game, your goals, and how we can help.

02. Long tail revenue services

What exactly are Long Tail Revenue Services?

Our Long Tail Revenue Services are designed to help studios increase the revenue of games that have already launched. We step in as your dedicated commercial partner, handling marketing, sales, promotions, pricing strategies, platform relations, and more — all under your studio’s name. You stay in control while we focus on maximizing your game’s success.

What makes Rekoup different from other publishing or consulting services?

We combine the best of both worlds — the full support of a publisher with the freedom and ownership of self-publishing. But more importantly, we believe the future belongs to strong, independent studios with recognizable brands. That’s why everything we do is under your name, not ours. We act as your in-house commercial team, fully integrated and reporting to you — so your game (and your studio) stay in the spotlight, right where they belong.

How much does it cost?

Our Long Tail Revenue Services start at $2,900 USD per month. There are no upfront fees or hidden costs — we only charge for the commercial work we manage, and our goal is to earn you far more than that investment.

How much revenue uplift can I expect?

On average, studios working with us have seen a 42% increase in revenue — but results can of course vary.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch! Our focus is on boosting your game’s revenue and taking time-consuming commercial work off your plate.

Is my game too old for this to work?

No game is too old for us to work with. We’ve helped boost revenue for games that launched 10+ years ago.

What if I’ve already optimized my pricing and discounts?

Even if you’ve done a great job so far, we often find untapped opportunities — may it be better timing for discounts, smarter regional pricing, improved platform relations, new promotional strategies and optimized distribution. There’s usually room to grow.

Do you only work with PC games?

No, we work across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo to ensure your game is reaching players on every relevant platform.

What if I’m a solo developer or small team?

We work with developers of all sizes — from solo devs to larger indie teams. Whether you’re just starting out or already established, our goal is to help you earn more revenue while saving you valuable time.

How long does it take to see results?

Revenue improvements can start showing within a few months, but it depends on the game and market conditions. We work with you to build both short-term gains and long-term growth.

How much time will this save me?

Our goal is to save you countless hours by taking over the “commercial grind” by doing work like pricing strategies, platform discussions, sales campaigns, and tracking new revenue opportunities. That’s time back in your pocket to focus on adding more content to your current game, developing your next game or managing your studio.

What exactly will you be doing for my game?

We jump in as your behind-the-scenes commercial team — all under your studio’s name and fully reporting to you. This includes:

  • Pricing Optimization – Making sure your pricing (everywhere) makes sense and works to your advantage.
  • Sales & Promotions – Setting up smart discounts, timing them right, and getting your game seen during key sales events.
  • Platform Relations – Pitching your game for storefront features, bundles, and subscription deals like Game Pass or PS Plus.
  • New Revenue Opportunities – Finding ways to earn more through new partnerships, regional stores, and other creative stuff you might not have time to chase.
  • Community & Influencer Support – Helping your game stay top-of-mind with players and creators, even if you’ve already moved on to the next thing.

The idea is simple: you save time, we boost revenue, and your studio stays front and center.

Will I still have control of my game/IP and commercial decisions?

Yes, of course. We will always present our plans and suggestions for improvement to you before doing anything. You will always have the final say before anything gets executed by us. See us as an extension of your current team, fully reporting to you.

What if I don’t want to commit long-term?

We’re confident in what we do, and we don’t lock studios into long-term contracts. If you’re unsure, we recommend trying us out for a few months — we’ll show you what we can deliver.

Do you offer partial services if I only need help in specific areas?

Yes! We can tailor our support based on your specific needs. Whether it’s just sales optimization or platform relations, we can focus on the areas that will have the biggest impact on your game’s revenue.

How do I know if my game is a good fit?

If your game is already launched and you feel like there’s still untapped potential, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re actively promoting it or it’s been sitting quietly for a while, we’ll assess your game’s performance and suggest the best way forward.

What’s the best way to get started?

Just reach out to us! We’ll set up a quick call to learn more about your game, see where we can help, and walk you through the next steps.

Should I still reach out if I’m unsure about your services?

Absolutely! Even if you’re unsure, we’re happy to chat. No pressure — just an honest conversation to see if we can add value to your game.

Can you share examples of past success?

Absolutely! Check out our Supported Games section to see how we’ve helped other studios boost their revenue and improve their game’s visibility.

Does my game need to be a recent release for you to help?

Nope! We work with games of all ages — whether it’s a recent release or a five-year-old title that still has untapped potential. As long as we believe we can make a positive impact, we’re interested.

Does your Long Tail Revenue Services cover both PC and console platforms?

Absolutely! Our Long Tail Revenue Services cover PC as well as console platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo. Whether your game is live on Steam, Epic, or any console storefront, we step in to manage the commercial side.

Does your team handle outreach to platforms like Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo?

Yes, we have strong relationships with platform holders and can manage discussions with them on your behalf. Whether it’s securing promotional opportunities, securing deals for Xbox Game Pass, PS+, Epic Free Games etc., or coordinating store visibility — we’ve got you covered.

My game had a solid launch but sales have slowed — can you still add value?

Absolutely! Many games experience strong early sales but struggle to maintain momentum. We specialize in breathing new life into games post-launch — optimizing pricing, finding new sales opportunities, and improving visibility.

My game isn’t performing as well as I’d hoped — can you still help?

Absolutely! Whether your game had a strong launch but is now struggling, or it never quite gained the traction you expected, we specialize in finding untapped revenue opportunities and improving visibility. Our goal is to help games — no matter their current performance — reach their full potential.

Do you offer support for seasonal sales or big platform events like Steam Next Fest or publisher sales?

Yes! We actively manage and optimize participation in key platform sales, themed events, and seasonal promotions. These moments can significantly boost revenue, and we make sure your game gets the right spotlight when it matters most.

What if I’ve already been running promotions and tweaking my pricing? Will you still have ideas to improve things?

Absolutely. Our team specializes in analyzing data, identifying overlooked opportunities, and applying fresh strategies — even for games that have been managed actively. We’ve seen impressive results by testing new approaches, exploring new markets, and adjusting pricing in smarter ways.

How long does it typically take before I start seeing results?

It depends on the state of your game and the strategies we apply, but some improvements can show results in just a few weeks. Our approach is built around long-term growth, so while some wins may be quick, we’re always focused on maximizing your revenue over time.

What if I don’t have time to manage all this myself?

That’s exactly why we’re here. Our team handles the commercial work for you — saving you countless hours so you can focus on new updates for your game or developing your next project (or even taking a well-deserved break!).

How much of a revenue boost can I expect?

Results can vary depending on your game’s current state and opportunities, but on average, we’ve seen a 42% increase in revenue for the studios we’ve worked with.

03. FUNDRAISING & SElf-PUBLISHING SUPPORT

I have a pitch deck for my new game. Could you send it to your network of investors?

If we believe this is a project that fits our (and our investors) criteria, then we would gladly present it to them. The first step after receiving your pitch is for us to get a better understanding of your studio and project.

If my game is presented to your network of investors, am I guaranteed to get a investment for my new project?

No. Just because we decided to present your game to our investors, this does not mean an investment is guaranteed. Our investors will do their own due diligence and decide if they are interested in continuing the discussions and potentially investing.

What kind of deal sizes do you do?

Our investors usually invest in the range of €300K – 1.5M. For larger investments, we might try to get several investors to invest together.

What type of terms could I expect?

You’ll always keep 100% creative freedom — we green-light the pitch, and the rest is your call (because it’s your game, not ours). We focus solely on project-based investments, so there’s no need to give up equity in your studio or anything long-term you’re not comfortable with.

The exact terms depend on the project and how much funding is needed, but one thing’s always true: we’re all about fair, transparent deals. And if you ask the devs we’ve worked with? Most will tell you our terms have been the best they’ve seen. We’ll gladly wear that badge.

What happens if I get the funding I need?

Once the funding’s locked in, that’s when we really get to work. Rekoup stays on as your in-house publishing team — helping you plan your go-to-market, handle all the commercial work, and make sure your game gets the attention it deserves.

We’ll do it all under your studio’s name, so you stay listed as both developer and publisher. The spotlight stays on your game and your studio — just as it should.
